Dental veneers might be the perfect solution to improve your smile. At Vanderlaan Family Dentistry in Byron Center, MI, Dr. Matthew Vanderlaan and his team provide high-quality veneers that offer aesthetic and functional benefits. Here are seven things you didn’t know about the dental veneers process.
Before we begin, we schedule a detailed consultation to assess your oral health, listen to your smile goals, and determine if veneers are the right choice. This is the time to ask any questions and discuss your expectations. We ensure you’re confident and comfortable every step of the way.
Dental veneers require minimal tooth removal. Only a thin layer of enamel is shaved off to make room for the veneer, ensuring the process is minimally invasive. Compared to crowns, veneers are an excellent option for those seeking a less aggressive approach to cosmetic dental work.
Each veneer is customized to suit your unique smile. Whether you want a brighter smile, more even teeth, or to correct small gaps, your veneers will blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. At Vanderlaan Family Dentistry, we use top-quality materials to ensure your veneers look and feel natural.
You will wear temporary veneers to protect your teeth and be given a preview of the finished product while your custom veneers are being made. This step allows you to get used to the feel of your new smile while we perfect your permanent veneers.
Veneers are built to last, with proper care extending their life for 10-15 years or more. To maximize their durability, avoid habits like chewing on hard objects or using your teeth as tools. At Vanderlaan Family Dentistry, we’ll guide you on how to care for your veneers to ensure they remain in excellent condition.
The recovery time for dental veneers is typically minimal. Most patients experience little to no discomfort after the procedure. You may experience slight sensitivity for a few days, but this usually resolves quickly. You can return to your daily activities right after your appointment, which is ideal for those with busy lifestyles.
Veneers aren’t just for cosmetic improvements; they can also address functional issues. They can help cover worn-down teeth, correct minor bite problems, and restore damaged teeth. At Vanderlaan Family Dentistry, we offer veneers that enhance your appearance and improve the overall function of your smile.
