Dana
Receptionist & Coordinator
Dana VanderLaan founded VanderLaan Family Dentistry with her husband, Dr. VanderLaan, in April of 2012. She is versed in all administrative tasks and acts as the office manager. Before her over 12 years of experience in the dental field, Dana graduated with a BSW from Saginaw Valley State University and an MSW from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work. Dana is a self starter, and was trained in dentistry completely on the job, and continues to learn new things about running an efficient, patient-centered dental office.
Along with her work at VFD, she is mom to her children (Brooke 16, Jenna 15, AJ 11 and Nora 11), and works tirelessly to make sure all of their needs are met, and devotes her time to being their #1 supporter. She enjoys her family time, rooting on her kid’s at their various athletic events, school and church activities, traveling, walking and working out, gardening, and spending time at home.
Jenna
Billing and Patient Care Coordinator
Jenna, the Billing, and Patient Care Coordinator has 8 years of experience in the field and an associate’s degree from Baker College in medical office administration. She enjoys spending time with her family and crafting. She is kind, caring, and detail-oriented.
Sara
Scheduling Coordinator
With 27 years of experience in dentistry, Sara brings both knowledge and heart to our team. She began her career as a Registered Dental Assistant, building a strong clinical foundation and a deep understanding of patient care from the ground up. Passionate about working with people, she takes pride in helping patients feel comfortable and confident about their dental treatment. She enjoys educating others on their options and guiding them toward achieving excellent oral health. Outside the office, she loves baking and volunteering in her church, where she continues her commitment to serving and supporting others in her community.

Amy, a Registered Dental Hygienist, graduated from Ferris State University and has 17 years of experience in the field. She enjoys hanging out with her family and friends and spending time outdoors. She prides herself on making patients feel comfortable and well-cared for.

Registered Dental Hygienist
Taryn is a Registered Dental Hygienist with three years of experience in the industry. She graduated from Grand Rapids Community College. She is passionate about dogs, coffee, boating, and hanging out with her family. She is also efficient, dedicated, and hardworking.
Krista
Registered Dental Hygienist
Krista is a Registered Dental Hygienist who has been in the position since 1996. She has an Associate’s Degree from Ferris State University and took three extra years of schooling at Oakland University for Pre-Dentistry. She received the Golden Scaler Award from Ferris State University. She loves spending time camping with her family and friends. She also enjoys watching her boys play lacrosse and grow into exceptional young men. She cares a great deal about her patients’ health and dental wellness.

Amanda is a registered Dental Assistant who graduated from Grand Rapids Community College in 2012. She has 12 years of assisting experience and prioritizes making each patient comfortable and at ease in the dental chair. Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their Goldendoodle, Lam-chop, outside the dental office.
